Firmware upgrade for Canon 7D brings a boost
The latest firmware upgrade for Canon's EOS 7D brings an increase in burst shooting capacity, as well as GPS support.
While many firmware tweaks only offer incremental updates and patches, the latest version for the 7D increases burst shooting in RAW to 25 shots (from 15), and in RAW+JPEG to 17 (from 6). Finally, the 7D also gets in-camera RAW processing, as well as manual file naming — useful for categorising a bunch of images on the fly.
The camera can now support GPS receiver (GP-E2) and manual control over audio, during video recording. You can see a full list of updates here.
The catch? The firmware upgrade is not available until 7 August. You can download it from Canon's website when it becomes available.
