While many firmware tweaks only offer incremental updates and patches, the latest version for the 7D increases burst shooting in RAW to 25 shots (from 15), and in RAW+JPEG to 17 (from 6). Finally, the 7D also gets in-camera RAW processing, as well as manual file naming — useful for categorising a bunch of images on the fly.

The camera can now support GPS receiver (GP-E2) and manual control over audio, during video recording. You can see a full list of updates here.

The catch? The firmware upgrade is not available until 7 August. You can download it from Canon's website when it becomes available.
