Leak points to Android Key Lime Pie Q2 debut

More delicious Android desserts could be just around the corner, according to some allegedly leaked Qualcomm roadmap slides that mentions (a few times) an arrival mid-year for the Android "K-release" or "Key Lime Pie".

The next flavour of Android could be served up in just a few short months.

Qualcomm officials have apparently been racing around the internet demanding that a handful of tech blogs take them down due to copyright issues, and thereby suggesting that they're actually legit. (As I write, you can still view them here on Phone Arena via Android Police.)

If Android 5.0 does pop up in a delicious sweet and sour flavour between March and June, the smart money is on a Google I/O debut, the event at which Android Jelly Bean was introduced last year.

In fact, if all the rumours come together to the form the perfect caipirinha of Android announcements, perhaps we'll see the release of a Motorola "X phone" running Android 5.0 Key Lime Pie, with integrated Google Project Glass support. Heck, just two out of those three would be interesting enough.

And, just to add a little grist to the rumourmill, the new Android statue at Google HQ is covered in chrome, which is being interpretted by some as a sign that the two OS's are going to be merged

Most phones aren't even running Ice Cream Sandwich yet and we're almost ready for Key Lime Pie?

How? iOS gets rolled out to every compatible iOS device upon release, and only with later versions (4 onwards I believe...?) was old hardware taken off the list.

Got myself a Galaxy Nexus (running a delicious 4.2.1 Jelly Bean +) and have never looked back. IMO Nexus is really the future for Android - rid yourselves of OEM & carrier update delays and bloatware by getting a Nexus device. Clean, crisp, untainted Android.

Admittedly, there are some OEM apps that are useful, and even (dare I say?) some carrier apps (i.e. usage meters). But, you can usually get both after-market, through Google Play or through an uploaded apk.
