Tech Time Machine: 4 March

Would Vivaldi have been interested in the inner workings of Haley's Comet? We'll never know because his life and a closer inspection of our celestial visitor occurred centuries apart. They both, however, shared milestones today, 4 March.

Today is also the day that in 1980 Robert Mugabe swept to power in the first elections held since the overthrow of white minority rule in Zimbabwe, formerly known as Rhodesia. In 2009, the International Criminal Court issues a warrant for the President of Sudan, Omar Hassan al-Bashir, for his role in the killings in the Darfur region.
